Top 11 Powerful Life Lessons From The Alchemist

Hello everyone. Today I am going to share the top 11 lessons I have learned from The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Before I tell the lessons, I learned I will tell you the story in brief as it will help you in understanding the lessons I learned after reading this.

The Story in Brief

The book tells the mysterious story of Santiago, a shepherd boy who wishes to explore in quest of a worldly treasure. Santiago undergoes a recurring dream of a great treasure buried thousands of miles away at the bottom of the Egyptian Pyramids.
Along the way, he meets a Gypsy woman who tells the meaning of people dreams, a man who declares himself a king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his journey. No one knows precisely what the treasure is or if Santiago will be able to succeed.
Shortly into his journey, Santiago finds himself in a town where he doesn’t speak the language; he gets robbed and left completely alone. He considers giving up and turning around, but chooses to carry on. He gets a job in a crystal shop and saves up money to return home, but then chooses to chance it and continue his quest for the treasure.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Santiago meets a girl named Fatima and falls in love with her but leaves her to continue his journey. On his route to the pyramids, Santiago is taken hostage by a local tribe. Santiago’s friend, on this course, tells the tribesmen that Santiago is a mighty wizard and then tribe offers to set them free if he can prove it.
Santiago then asks the components (stick with me here) to help him turn himself into the wind and anyhow does it. This frightens the tribesmen, so they free Santiago and his friend.
Santiago ultimately makes his way to the Pyramid and discovers some gold when robbers attack him. When questioned what he is doing there, Santiago answers that he had a dream of a treasure buried at the base of the Pyramids. One of the thieves laughs at him and says that he had the similar dream, but in his dream, the treasure was hidden in a deserted church in Spain (which is where Santiago first started his journey).
The story then hops forward in time and finds Santiago drilling a hole at the bottom of the tree where he had had his first dream. He finds a chest full of gold–sufficient for him and Fatima to live peacefully for a long time.
The End.

Lessons I Learned  From The Alchemist

Here are those 11 lessons I have learned from this story.

01. The treasure is where you are, but you need to go out to know it.

02. The real treasure is not the wealth you find but the person you become in the end.

03.  Don't stop moving like Santiago never lost hope and never stopped during his journey.

04. Follow your heart, and the journey will transform you, which means you will become a better person.

05. Fear is the only thing which will stop you in acquiring your dreams.

06. The journey is more important than the destination.

07. You are born for a purpose.

08. You need dreams to achieve something. Never stop dreaming.

09. If you fail, you can always go back to the things you are good at. So I think everyone should have a back-up plan.

10. The whole world will help you if you truly want something.

11. Whatever happens, happens for your good. Just believe in this and learn the lessons.
