Everybody wants to look lean, but they don't know how to lose their weight and manage it.  Then comes the people who know how to become lean or to lose weight but they don't know how to maintain it forever. In this article, I will try to help you in losing your weight and keeping it.

Life Time Concept of Weight Control

If you want to control your weight and maintain it for a lifetime, lay stress on the following points. 

1. Set the Appropriate Goals

For losing your body weight, you should set a suitable goal. i.e., how much weight do you want to lose? While setting the goal, you should know about your capacities and capabilities. Your goal should be achievable. You may set your intention for one month. Take the promise that you will lose 1 kg per month. After that, you can set your goal for lifetime weight control.

2. Lay Stress on Health Not on Weight 

It is a favorite fact that losing weight for health rather than appearance can make it easier to set reasonable goals. From the viewpoint of health, you should make efforts to achieve or maintain the body mass index between the range of 18.5 and 24.9. Along with this, if you are a male, your waist size should measure less than 40 inches, and if you are a female, your waist size should be less than 35 inches. If your BMI or waist size goes beyond these measures, you will have to face many diseases.

3. Cut you Calories

Keep a plan ready to get back on the track if your body weight begins to exceed the required level. It is a simple plan to follow. Just cut or subtract only 100 calories a day. In this way, you can reach your goal weight.

4. Avoid Fatty Foods

If you want to lose or maintain weight, you should avoid fatty foods in your diet. Fats are known to have a maximum number of calories. These extra calories will be accumulated in your body. So avoid fatty foods you want to remain slim and trim. 

5. Avoid Overeating

To control or maintain weight, you should not overeat. It means that you should eat the food according to the requirements of your body. Suppose, you require 2,000 calories per day, then you should take the diet that consists of only 2,00 calories. If you take 2,100 calories per day, the100 calories will be accumulated daily fast in your body. So, you should avoid overeating.

6. Don't Eat Frequently

You should not form a habit to eat frequently. The children who frequently eat usually take extra calories. Therefore they become obese. So avoid eating frequently.

7. Avoid Rich Carbohydrate Food

To lose weight avoid rich carbohydrate food. But it does not mean that you should not take carbs. Carbohydrates are necessary to increase the level of energy. So, you should reduce the number of carbs in your diet. For this purpose try to avoid sugars, toffees, chips, potatoes, rice, etc.

8. Don't skip meals

Don't skip meals, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you skip next time you will do overeating which will lead to weight gain.

9. Avoid Alcohol, Smoking, and Drugs

Always keep in mind the alcohol, smoking and drugs always tend to increase weight and if you want to control your weight, you should never use it.

10. Active Lifestyle

In fact, active lifestyle plays a pertinent role in controlling weight. If you are in school, you should prefer walking instead of reaching your school by car or any vehicle. Instead of elevators, a person who wants to control his weight should prefer stairs.  Instead of chatting on social media or watching TV for more hours a person should go for playing, walking, or gymming. In this way, you can lead an active lifestyle.  

11. Balancing the Intake of Calories and Expenditure of Calories

For sustaining a healthy weight for a lifetime, you should always try to make a balance between your intake of calories and expenditure of calories. For implementing, it, try to eat more calories than your body burns each day. Always stick to your eating plan even on a holiday or function. Too much-stored fat raises your BMI and makes it hard to return to your goal weight. Lay stress in the following points for balancing the intake and expenditure of calories:

(a) When you take more calories than you require to do your day's activities, your body stores the extra calories, and as a result of that, you gain weight.

(b) When you take less number of calories than your expenditure, you lose weight.

(c) When your intake and expenditure of calories remain the same your body weight also remains the same.


 It is usually said that you may lose your body weight for a short period but it is difficult to maintain it for a lifetime. Indeed, it requires strong willpower, dedication, and motivation to control weight for a lifetime.
