01. Stroke

Too much fat in the body, especially saturated fat and cholesterol, builds up plaque in the arteries and can lead to stroke. In fact, it usually occurs due to obesity. 

02. High Cholesterol

Recent research studies have shown that the higher your body mass index (BMI), the higher the levels of total cholesterol, this is particularly authentic in women in comparison to men. Cholesterol levels increase even more in people who have central obesity, i.e., excess fatty in the abdominal portion. Obesity increases LDL (bad cholesterol) and reduces HDL (good cholesterol).

03. Hypertension

Obesity doubles the risk of hypertension or high blood pressure. It is related to heart diseases. Indeed, hypertension occurs in 26 percent of obese individuals. 

04. Gall Bladder Disease

Gout is a state in which uric acid forms up in the joints and tissues in the body. Obesity increases the risk of gout only because more cells and tissues are producing uric acid, which can lead to building up. Getting rid of excess weight can decrease uric acid production and control gout. 

09. Depression

Persons who are obese usually have depression. They can have self-esteem issues. They may feel bad about themselves for overeating and ashamed or embarrassed all, leading to depression. 

10. Sleep apnea

Its a dangerous condition causing breathing to temporarily stop during sleep. Obesity is a notable risk factor for sleep apnea. 


There are various harmful effects of obesity. In fact, obesity takes a massive toll on the body and ultimately puts a risk of severe health conditions.
